Legacy. Kathleen Theresa Lutz (October 13, 1946  August 17, 2004) died of emphysema and George Lee Lutz (January 1, 1947  May 8, 2006) died of heart disease. The couple had divorced in the late 1980s, but remained on good terms.

DeFeo is still alive and held in Green Haven Correctional Facility in Bekman, New York. All of his appeals and requests for parole have been denied. George and Kathy Lutz divorced in the late 1980s. Kathy died of emphysema in 2004; George died of heart disease in 2006.
