The biggest gaming news of the year came on Friday the 13th, when Microsoft'sR$69 billion acquisition of gaming studio Activision Blizzard finally closed, with the mammoth gaming studio joining the Xbox team along with popular franchises Call of Duty, Overwatch and World of Warcraft.

It is a sequel to 2024's Modern Warfare II, serving as the third entry in the rebooted Modern Warfare sub-series and the twentieth installment in the overall Call of Duty series. The game was released on November 10, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
