Calling The Clock is a rule used to discourage a player from taking an excessive amount of time by giving him/her a set amount of time to make a decision, or risk having his/her hand declared dead.

In a poker tournament, there is no time limit on players to make a decision. There comes a time, however, when delaying the tournament to make a decision (or tanking ) becomes an delaying option that players will use.
